Profhilo vs Profhilo Structura: What’s the Difference – and Which Is Right for You?

The world of injectable skin treatments is evolving rapidly, and one name that’s become almost synonymous with natural-looking skin rejuvenation is Profhilo.
You may already be familiar with the original Profhilo – a treatment that improves skin hydration, elasticity, and overall glow. But there’s now a newer product in the same family: Profhilo Structura.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is often described as a “skin booster,” but that really underplays its impact. It’s a bioremodelling injectable, made from pure hyaluronic acid (HA) in a unique formulation that doesn’t behave like traditional filler.
Rather than add volume or create shape, Profhilo works by stimulating your skin’s own collagen and elastin. It hydrates the skin from within and improves texture, elasticity, and firmness – essentially, it’s a way to improve your skin, rather than just fill it.
How it Works
Profhilo contains 64mg of hyaluronic acid per 2ml, split evenly between high and low molecular weight HA. These molecules are thermally stabilised into a hybrid cooperative complex – meaning no chemical cross-linking agents are used.
Once injected into the superficial subcutaneous plane, it spreads like honey through the tissue, triggering fibroblast activity, increasing skin hydration, and improving dermal architecture.
What is Profhilo Structura?
Structura is the latest innovation in the Profhilo range. While it’s based on the same technology, it’s designed to work deeper – in the structural layers of the face, not just the skin.
Structura treats tissue support. It’s aimed at early volume loss and sagging, helping to lift and contour from within.
Structura contains 45mg of HA per 2ml, with a higher proportion of high molecular weight HA. This makes it more viscous and cohesive – offering mechanical support as well as biostimulation.
Profhilo vs Profhilo Structura: Comparison Table
Feature | Profhilo | Profhilo Structura |
HA concentration | 64 mg/2 mL | 45 mg/2 mL |
Injection depth | Dermis / superficial fat | Deep fat / supraperiosteal |
Primary effect | Hydration, elasticity | Lifting, mild volumisation |
Best for | Dehydrated, crepey skin | Volume loss, sagging |
How They Work
Profhilo stimulates fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and adipose-derived stem cells. One study (Bisso et al., 2018) showed a 10–12x increase in fibroblast activity and collagen production.
Structura adds support by targeting deeper compartments – including deep fat pads and fascia – where structural ageing begins.
Combining Treatments
Many patients benefit most from combining both:
Structura to restore foundation and volume
Profhilo to enhance skin quality and elasticity
This layered approach is ideal for patients aged 40+, helping to delay filler or surgery while keeping the face natural and softly supported.
Safety and Downtime
Profhilo has minimal downtime – small bumps may appear briefly post-treatment. Structura may cause mild swelling or bruising due to deeper injection but is well-tolerated. Both are BDDE-free and biocompatible.
Surgical Comparison
Neither product replaces surgery or dermal filler, but they can delay both by maintaining skin quality and foundational support. Ultrasound studies show 13–20% increases in dermal thickness post Profhilo, and Structura is expected to produce similar results in deeper tissues.
